Home - Saint Mary
Welcome to Saint Mary's community of faith and excellence.
Saint Mary School opened over 50 years ago. The tradition of excellence in Catholic education continues. The building has undergone considerable updates and remains a great facility to meet the needs of students. In the recent several years, we have updated lighting, put in a new gym floor, security system, air conditioning, new windows, and refrigerated drinking fountains. Saint Mary parish is very supportive of the school and strives to maintain a premier school in the heart of the city. All roads easily lead to Saint Mary School.
Currently Saint Mary School has grades Pre-K through 6. There are 350 students enrolled for the '07-'08 school year. Our building is divided into 3 wings. The main level west wing hosts our Preschool through grade 2 students. They have a separate playground and drop-off/pick-up entrance. Grades 3 and 4 classrooms are located on the main level east wing with grades 5 and 6 upstairs. School hours: 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
In addition to classroom offerings we have vocal music, band, technology, art, library, and physical education instruction by certified teachers. Kindergarten has 30 minutes of each of those subjects. Grades 1-6 have two 30 minute classes each week in physical education and music and one 40 minute class each week in art, technology, and library.
All student needs are addressed at Saint Mary School. We augment and address student instruction with enrichment instruction or remediation/assistance based on student needs for success. Auxiliary staff, aids, and volunteers round out our certified staff as part of our dedicated educational team. In addition to formal academic enrichment, we offer group band, private band lessons, guitar lessons, liturgical music, technological studies and applications, and will soon be incorporating the Accelerated Reader program in our library.
