Home - St Joseph Cathedral
Welcome to St Joseph Cathedral!
St. Joseph Cathedral School is located downtown on the grounds of the St. Joseph Cathedral. Children from the Cathdral parish as well as those from St. Josephine Bakhita and Our Lady of Guadalupe parishes attend here.
Our school is a culturally diverse Catholic "family". The level of caring exhibited by our students and faculty is something which is often remarked upon by those who are visiting or new to our school. We think we have a lot to offer and invite you to visit our school.
Our history is a long and interesting one. More than 100 years ago, the first Cathedral Grade School opened in 1905 with six Dominican sisters teaching 195 students. In 1959, the Cathedral Grade School was torn down and the new St. Joseph Elementary opened in 1960. St. Joseph Cathedral's current enrollment is almost 80 students, with each grade (K-6) having one section. St. Joseph Cathedral School offers Pre-K through grade 6. School hours: 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
St. Joseph Cathedral has very committed and talented teachers. Longevity of the faculty is something Sioux Falls Catholic Schools is proud of. St. Joseph Cathedral's teachers average 9.5 years of teaching in our system. Our teachers are so valued!
