Academic Services
Academic Services
Sioux Falls Catholic Schools is committed to providing educational services to all students.
St. Joseph Cathedral School has Academic Services staff available on site. There are many options available for each student. They may choose to fill out an accommodation form, which helps the child meet their academic goals. The accommodation plan is determined by a team of teachers along with the parents. Academic Services personnel work with teachers to ensure that these accommodations are carried out. They may also choose to have their child assessed through the Sioux Falls Public School system. St. Joseph Cathedral School has a close relationship with a local public school provider. The students may receive services for part of the day. Those services may include Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, ULE (Unique Learning Experience), Remedial Math or Reading.
Enriched Education.
At the elementary level, students can participate in enrichment activities in the classroom, as a pull-out opportunity (in-house), or receive services (if they qualify) at the local public school provider. Enrichment can take the form of compacting, accelerating, alternative curriculum, and takes into account students ability, performance, and maturity level (i.e. ability to work independently). Enrichment also is provided through programs such as Accelerated Reader, Math counts, Geography Bee, Destination Imagination, Chess Club, German or French Club, Spanish instruction, etc.
