For Parents of 5th and 6th graders:
Growing up--- All in God’s Plan
The Sioux Falls Catholic Schools, Sioux Falls parishes, in conjunction with Avera McKennan Family Life Center, and the Catholic Diocese of Sioux Falls are providing an opportunity for parents to learn more about teachings the Church has given us on human sexuality. The program also shares learned experiences that have proven valuable to parents as they have sought means for improving communication with their sons/daughters.
2010 Parent Gatherings:
February 24 - Wednesday at St. Mary Parish, 7 PM
March 2 - Tuesday at St. Michael Parish, 7 PM
March 11 – Thursday at Holy Spirit Parish, 7 PM
“All in God’s Plan” Parent Presentations Include:
• Presentation: Discovering the Master Plan for Your Life: An Education in Being Human (basic talk in God’s purpose in creating us male and female)
• Presentation on The Truth and Meaning of Human Sexuality: A Parent’s Guide in Education in the Home regarding human sexuality
• Overview of the upcoming Mother/Daughter and Father/Son events which will be held in March & April
• Help with understanding the physical changes in your child
• Ways to help you, as a parent, to determine how to share what and when with your son or daughter
o Is this program right for our family?
o Is it the right time for my child
to be introduced to these important
topics?
o Am I prepared as parent and primary
educator of my child to carry on the
discussions that will, on occasion, ensue
with my child?
We are asking Parents of every 5th & 6th grade student to attend the Parent Meeting. You then decide if you want to participate in the follow-up gathering of mothers with daughters or fathers with sons. If you attended a parent meeting last year it is not necessary to attend another one before attending the Parent & Child event. But, you are certainly invited to do so and receive new material also.
Remember: a Parent meeting is necessary before attending the Parent & Child event… Children do not attend the Parent Meeting.
